This week’s theme:
“I am there in the midst of them.”
Scripture Readings for this week:
Exodus 12:1-14*
Psalm 149*
Romans 13:8-14*
Matthew 18:15-20*

ICB Pastor, Chee Keong Yong, introduces this week’s theme:
When is Jesus present among us? What does he mean when two or three are gathered in his name, he is present among them?
This is a sentence that perhaps most of us know by heart from our younger days. It has been taught and prayed over and over again. But do we know what is meant by it? Most often, it is used to encourage groups in small numbers that Jesus is present even with just two or three. You won’t find it mentioned often in much larger church gatherings.
So it is like a morale booster for most. Does it work though? Are we truly convinced of Jesus’ presence in small numbers? How do we feel about small numbers? Do we get discouraged? Do we prefer larger crowds so that we can blend in with others?
I have ministered in both small and big churches. Does it matter? Jesus started with a handful – just twelve disciples. Just imagine, turning up at church on a Sunday with a dozen people in attendance. How would you feel?
If we count on our feelings about the presence of God / Jesus, then we are mistaken. Feelings do not give rise to faith. The saying from Jesus is a promise based on His word. Is it trustworthy enough that we do not allow small numbers to defeat us?
Join us this Sunday at church at 10.00 am. Where? At the Bangkok Christian College.
Blessings
Chee

ICB Choir meets every Sunday – if you’d like to join, please come to rehearsal at 9 a.m. We need more singers, and it’s fun! |

- The Pastoral Search Committee has reviewed 41 applications and selected candidates for the next stage of the search process.
- Those selected have received and answered a questionnaire and, during this period, the search committee is reviewing sermons.
- Shortly, the committee will begin interviewing a small group of candidates and gather references in order to recommend the best applicant to the church council.
- Meanwhile, please continue to pray for wisdom and God’s guidance for committee members and short listed candidates as we approach this critical point of the search process.
- Pastor Chee has accepted the Council’s invitation to extend his term with us until 5th November 2023.
- Watch this space for more news when it happens….

ICB – Caring for Displaced People through partnership Life Raft International
An updated document relating to the above has now been uploaded to the Policies section of our website. The ICB Council has been working with Life Raft International for many years in seeking to relocate people to various countries for resettlement. The uploaded document gives clear parameters of our relationship with Life Raft International. (Below are more details on our work with Life Raft.)

We, at ICB, support displaced individuals and families in Bangkok with regular financial support through Life Raft International.
We also offer congregational, emotional and spiritual assistance.
Who qualifies?
Those who have been granted (or are applying for) recognition as refugees by UNHCR.
Why do we need to help these people?
Ongoing support is needed to help them bridge the gap while they seek and wait for resettlement in another country, which most often takes many years.
UNHCR recognition very rarely means they can live and work freely in their country of asylum. |
