Sunday, 15th May 2022Sermon
is delivered in-person & on zoom by our minister, Revd. Chee Keong Yong
The reading from Acts 11 is rather peculiar, do you not think so? It will be highly unacceptable for a Jew to eat with Gentiles. The dreams that Peter had were also controversial, to say the least.
In Asian culture and context, it will be highly acceptable to welcome people of other persuasion to join in gatherings to partake food at a mosque or even a temple. However, this is a highly sensitive issue for some Christians.
Yet, the dreams that Peter had were his explanation that God is doing a new thing here – it is breaking down barriers.
Whatever his understanding about others outside the Jewish faith was, he needed to overcome it. His prejudices must be overcome.
This brings us to the text from the Gospel – a short passage with a big message. The command to “love one another” is not new. This is an old commandment and every Jew would know it. However, there is a caveat. What may that be?
Join us this Sunday at worship services – SCC (10 am) and BCGH (6.30 pm).
Blessings
Chee

at BCGH (Bangkok Christian Guesthouse) Please scroll down below for details
Please pray a) for those who have contracted Covid19, including those in our own congregation and their families. b) for the refugee families and other displaced persons residing in Bangkok, for their safety and well-being as well as positive progress in securing permanent resettlement solutions to their plight. c) for the people of Ukraine both in the country and refugees as well as those caught up in wars and conflicts in many other countries, including in neighbouring Myanmar. d) for the people in Yemen, Afghanistan, Mozambique and the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia and Somalia) who needlessly lack both food and medical supplies and are close to starvation. We pray that the recently agreed truce in fighting in both The Yemen and Ethiopia will transform into permanent endings of hostilities in those countries.

ICB Church Council invites all members of the congregation to read and review the draft of a new document entitled
ICB POLICY ON BEING “MISSIONAL” Here is the Link for downloading
This document contains a forward which explains the background and reasons for revising our understanding on how we can and should approach our mission to others. We apologise for those who may have tried to connect for a discussion last Sunday. Unfortunately, we were unable to set this up.
We will let you know when we can resume looking at this document together.
Fellowship is essential for the wellbeing of any true community – but it’s not so easy when we cannot all meet personally face-to-face, and have no social events.
At ICB, we wish to develop new ways to extend Christian fellowship among all of us during 2022. We invite you to help with your ideas for such fellowship activities.
