Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
I wonder what it is like to have a name like Thomas? The name that has been so much teased and mocked. Perhaps, there is a tinge of guilt in us where we have teased others with that name ourselves.

I want to assure you that a proper reading of the Gospels concerning Thomas would show a rather different side of him. Rather than a doubter, Thomas was a person who wanted to be sure and convinced of something before he could go along with it.

Take, for example, the incident regarding the news of Lazarus’ death reaching Jesus. Jesus had purposely delayed going to Lazarus when he learned that he was ill. Then when news came that he had passed away, Jesus signalled that he would now go to Judea where Lazarus’ family was. Those who were with Jesus warned him against it.

But not Thomas. Thomas blurted out, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”  This does not sound like a person who is a doubter at all.

Do you wish to know more about Thomas? Come this Sunday and join us in worship and fellowship around God’s word.

Please note that a General Meeting has been called to take place after the service on 30th April. On the Agenda are two items –
1. To receive and pass the Statement of Accounts 2022 and
2. To constitute the members of the Pastoral Search Committee.

Sunday School meets every week for young children during part of the worship time. Parents are encouraged to bring their children of any age.

If you enjoy singing, please join our choir each week by arriving about 9 am, before Sunday service, for practice. All are welcome to take part, even if you have little or no experience. (It’s a good place to start!)

General Meeting on Sunday, 30 April, immediately after Morning Service.

We need YOU there to

1. Receive & approve the church accounts for 2022    and
2. Constitute members for the Pastoral Search Committee.

Also, it’s a time to be updated on any ICB matters and a chance for you to bring to the Council any questions or concerns you may have.

People coming on foot, taxi and / or BTS should use Exit 3 (BTS station) and enter by the side gate on Sathorn Road.

Those coming by car are to use the gate on adjacent Soi Pramuan only. The gate on Sathorn road is inaccessible to all vehicles (except bicycles).

As still recommended by the health authorities, all are advised to follow social distancing to keep others safe. We have members who have been infected lately and we do not wish others to be also infected. If you are not feeling well, please stay at home. Bottled water is available at all times.

If you plan to come in your own car:
Please enter Soi Pramuan Road (between Sathorn and Silom Road) and enter the school through Gate 3. Make an immediate right turn and follow the side road to the parking lot with the basketball hoops. (Please take care as there is currently building work going on inside the school grounds)

We, at ICB, support displaced individuals and families in Bangkok with regular financial support through Life Raft International.

We also offer congregational, emotional and spiritual assistance.
Who qualifies?
Those who have been granted (or are applying for) recognition as refugees by UNHCR.
Why do we need to help these people?
Ongoing support is needed to help them bridge the gap while they seek and wait for resettlement in another country, which most often takes many years.
UNHCR recognition very rarely means they can live and work freely in their country of asylum.

Owing to several people leaving ICB and Thailand over the past months, the ICB Church Council is seeking people to fill the following positions as soon as possible:

• Outreach – continuing contact with and support for our 8 social service partners
• Worship – overseeing Church services
• Fellowship – organising ICB community activities
• Membership – welcoming new people to our church and maintaining contact with all members.
• Personnel and Property – overseeing needs of our employees and facilities

None of these positions requires specialist skills nor a large amount of time.
All you need is the motivation to help us to develop our ICB community and outreach partners with Jesus as our guide.
