This week’s theme:
Compared to ‘dirt’ ”

Scripture Readings for this week:
Old Testament: Genesis 25:19-34*
Old Testament: Psalm 119:105-112*
Scripture:  Romans 8:1-11*
Gospel:  Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23*
(*click for online Bible)
Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:

Have you ever been treated like dirt before? Guess what? In the Gospel reading, it was Jesus who compared the hearers to “dirt”. What? There are various ways in which Jesus compared the hearers to. For instance, we are “sheep” and he is the shepherd. We like this imagery because lambs are rather cute. It was never meant to be. The image of “sheep” was meant to be derogatory. Sheep are dumb, unlike goats. Hmmm. I will have to think over this again.

So what does it sound like when we are considered as “dirt”? I guess none of us like to be treated like dirt. Here Jesus seems to indicate various types of dirt and its usefulness. Am I the bad dirt or good dirt that will return severalfold?

Join us this Sunday at our worship service at 10.00 am and reflect on Jesus’ parable about the sower.

Sunday School meets every week for young children during part of the worship time. Parents are encouraged to bring their children of any age.

ICB Choir will not meet this Sunday or next, but will resume on 30th July.

What’s been done since early May …..

  • We have completed the survey of the congregation and updated the Church Profile.
  • The week of July 2nd, we began placing advertisements announcing the position of pastor at ICB.  The Search Committee will accept applications until August 4.
  • We thank everyone who participated in the survey, and we ask for your continued prayers as the search moves forward.

YOU can serve our church

Do you enjoy listening to the Choir?
Do you hum along to yourself?
Then why not join in with them as a singer and experience the joy of creating music with others?
Whatever your age, you can learn (or relearn) to sing.
It’s never too late to start, and ICB choir is the perfect place to do so.

So please consider becoming a new singer!  Yes, YOU!
Restarting on 30 July, if you enjoy singing, even to yourself in the shower, please join our choir each week by arriving around 9 am, before Sunday service, for practice. All are welcome to take part, even if you have little or no music experience. (It’s fun and a good place to start)
Please note:
The choir is on Summer break and will not meet this coming Sunday 16th July nor the following Sunday 23rd July.

ICB – Caring for Displaced People through partnership Life Raft International

An updated document relating to the above has now been uploaded to the Policies section of our website. The ICB Council has been working with Life Raft International for many years in seeking to relocate people to various countries for resettlement. The uploaded document gives clear parameters of our relationship with Life Raft International. (Below are more details on our work with Life Raft.)

We, at ICB, support displaced individuals and families in Bangkok with regular financial support through Life Raft International.

We also offer congregational, emotional and spiritual assistance.
Who qualifies?
Those who have been granted (or are applying for) recognition as refugees by UNHCR.
Why do we need to help these people?
Ongoing support is needed to help them bridge the gap while they seek and wait for resettlement in another country, which most often takes many years.
UNHCR recognition very rarely means they can live and work freely in their country of asylum.

ICB URGENTLY needs people like YOU!

Owing to several people leaving ICB and Thailand over the past months, the ICB Church Council is seeking people to fill the following positions as soon as possible and/or members on all the committees:

  • Outreach – continuing contact with and support for our 8 social service partners
Our newly appointed Outreach leader needs others to assist in developing this important work of ICB.
  • Worship – overseeing Church services
  • Fellowship – In organising ICB community activities, more helpers needed.

All you need is the motivation to help us to develop our ICB community and outreach partners with Jesus as our guide.

To find out more, please contact
Pastor Chee

Fellowship is essential for the wellbeing of any true community – Now that we can all meet personally face-to-face, we need to resume regular social events together.
At ICB, we wish to develop new ways to extend Christian fellowship among all of us during 2023.
We invite you to help with your ideas for weekly and occasional fellowship activities.
