Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
Allow yourself to step into the shoes of the Canaanite woman in today’s Gospel. So much of it is a demonstration of the unfairness we see all around us. By virtue of her status, ethnicity, race, etc., she was scorned by society on every side.
To have Jesus come along and be faced with the same scorn from the man known for compassion would surely be the last straw. She had been through so much in life that she would not be denied again, no matter who he is. She shouted at the top of her voice to be heard.
She was heard and Jesus responded and remarked on her remarkable stubborn faith.
Have you been in the same shoes as this woman? I see this displayed in media over and over again – desperate refugees trying to gain a foothold to a better life elsewhere. So many are denied and a lot by forceful means – KEEP OUT.
Will you be denied? What have you been denied by Jesus?
This Sunday, we again meet on Zoom. Please use the same Zoom link as last Sunday.
Blessings
Chee
