Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:

Ever wondered why there are days on life’s road when God seems to be absent? Sometimes those days can lengthen incredibly with no end in sight. People in a war-torn land, disaster-struck zones, and viral pandemic on a worldwide scale – all contribute to a sense of abandonment. Such events are happening on a scale like never before.

Has God left the world? I wonder if the disciples of Jesus felt very much abandoned after his death on the cross. Their whole world seems to have caved in.

Two of his disciples might have felt total despair as a result. They were walking back to Emmaus from Jerusalem downcast.

A stranger appeared and walked with them. The stranger enlightened their feeble minds concerning the state of affairs. A ray of hope shines in.

Would you be enlightened this coming Sunday at the worship service? Come and join us as we walk with the stranger on Emmaus Road.

This a reminder that on 30th April, there with be an extraordinary meeting immediately after the service. There are two items on the Agenda – to receive and adopt the Statement of Accounts ending Dec 2022 and to receive the names of those who will be on the Pastoral Search Committee 2023.

Sunday School meets every week for young children during part of the worship time. Parents are encouraged to bring their children of any age.

ICB Choir needs new singers!:
If you enjoy singing, please join our choir each week by arriving about 9 am, before Sunday service, for practice. All are welcome to take part, even if you have little or no music experience. (It’s a good place to start!)

We’ll be holding an important
General Meeting on Sunday, 30 April, immediately after Morning Service.

We need YOU there to

1. Receive & approve the church accounts for 2022    and
2. Constitute members for the Pastoral Search Committee.

Also, it’s a time to be updated on any ICB matters and a chance for you to bring to the Council any questions or concerns you may have.

Directions:
People coming on foot, taxi and / or BTS should use Exit 3 (BTS station) and enter by the side gate on Sathorn Road.

Those coming by car are to use the gate on adjacent Pramuan Road only. The gate on Sathorn road is inaccessible to all vehicles (except bicycles).
Please remember the COVID Code:
As still recommended by the health authorities, all are advised to follow social distancing to keep others safe. We have members who have been infected lately and we do not wish others to be also infected. If you are not feeling well, please stay at home. Bottled water is available at all times.

If you plan to come in your own car:
Please enter Pramuan Road (between Sathorn and Silom Road) and enter the school through Gate 3. Make an immediate right turn and follow the side road to the parking lot with the basketball hoops. (Please take care as there is currently building work going on inside the school grounds)

We, at ICB, support displaced individuals and families in Bangkok with regular financial support through Life Raft International.

We also offer congregational, emotional and spiritual assistance.
Who qualifies?
Those who have been granted (or are applying for) recognition as refugees by UNHCR.
Why do we need to help these people?
Ongoing support is needed to help them bridge the gap while they seek and wait for resettlement in another country, which most often takes many years.
UNHCR recognition very rarely means they can live and work freely in their country of asylum.

Owing to several people leaving ICB and Thailand over the past months, the ICB Church Council is seeking people to fill the following positions as soon as possible:

• Outreach – continuing contact with and support for our 8 social service partners
• Worship – overseeing Church services
• Fellowship – organising ICB community activities
• Membership – welcoming new people to our church and maintaining contact with all members.
• Personnel and Property – overseeing needs of our employees and facilities

None of these positions requires specialist skills nor a large amount of time.
All you need is the motivation to help us to develop our ICB community and outreach partners with Jesus as our guide.
