This week’s theme:
“What defines you?”
Scripture Readings for this week:
Old Testament: Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7*
Old Testament: Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19*
Scripture: Romans 5:1-8*
Gospel: Matthew 9:35-10:8*

Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
For many of us, our work or occupation defines us. We may be doctors, accountants, lawyers, or perhaps labourers or even factory workers. Most often times when asked, we introduce ourselves by the work we do.
Seldom do we define ourselves by our faith, do we? When Jesus mentioned that there is a lack of labourers, do we volunteer? Would anyone here like to define themselves as labourers? Is the calling too menial? Do we put it on our CV? I am a labourer.
Is there anything that we are ashamed of when called to be a labourer? Or do we demand the more respected titles – ambassadors for Christ, apostles, bishops, etc? Or perhaps, an ordinary missionary?
Two older persons in the Old Testament readings were destined for the geriatric ward but were called to the maternity ward, instead. One respectively heeded the call and served humbly, the other disbelieved and would have nothing to do with it. What happened to them?
Come and find out on Sunday as we worship together at 10.00 am at the Bangkok Christian College.
Blessings
Chee

Do you enjoy listening to the Choir?
Do you hum along to yourself?
Then why not join in with them as a singer and experience the joy of creating music with others?
Everyone of ALL AGES can learn (or relearn) to sing. It’s never too late to start, and ICB choir is the perfect place to do so.Why Sing in a Choir? 5 Healthy Reasons
REASON 1: Musicality. It improves the way you hear music and intensifies your appreciation of harmony.
REASON 2: Mental Health. Singing enhances brain function, strengthens feelings of togetherness, and reduces stress and depression.
REASON 3: Confidence. Anyone can learn to sing! Singing in a church choir gives you permission to make noise as part of a group and lose any fear of performing in front of others.
REASON 4: Belonging. Many people feel isolated. Being part of a singing group fulfils the need for belonging and quickly forms social bonds. It’s a powerful ice-breaker, making new friends with diverse backgrounds, widening horizons and improving social cohesion.
REASON 5: Aerobic and toning. Singing is a wonderful workout for the lungs! More oxygen in the blood strengthens your entire body. Slower and deeper breathing gives a profound sense of well-being and is excellent to combat asthma and emphysema. Your posture in singing strengthens stomach muscles that support the spine, making you less prone to injury as you age.

So, what are you waiting for?
Come at 9 am on any Sunday morning and find out! |

We, at ICB, support displaced individuals and families in Bangkok with regular financial support through Life Raft International.
We also offer congregational, emotional and spiritual assistance.
Who qualifies?
Those who have been granted (or are applying for) recognition as refugees by UNHCR.
Why do we need to help these people?
Ongoing support is needed to help them bridge the gap while they seek and wait for resettlement in another country, which most often takes many years.
UNHCR recognition very rarely means they can live and work freely in their country of asylum. |
