Sermon

is delivered in-person & on zoom by our minister,
Revd. Chee Keong Yong
Revd. Chee introduces his sermon theme this week:

Theme: “Knowing your place

Scripture Readings for this week:
Old Testament: Jeremiah 2:4-13*
Psalms: Psalm 81:1, 10-16*
Epistle: Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-16*

Gospel: Luke 14:1, 7-14*
(*click for online Bible)

Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
I guess that most of us present will at one time or another be invited to an elegant dinner party. The kind of party where it pays to learn and observe good social etiquette; the kind of party that you want to be invited to again.

Guess what – Jesus too has had many invitations to parties as he moved from place to place. I guess when you are known, people will invite you in order to show others their social circle.

Most of us will need to know our “place” in that kind of setting. If it is a wedding sit -down dinner party, name cards will be placed on tables to indicate where guests are to be seated. It will be highly impolite to bring along your kids unless the hosts have special seats for them. And you better tell the children to behave at such parties.

If you have been reading the accounts of Jesus at parties, he does not seem to follow convention. In most instances, Jesus could be said to be downright offensive to those gathered and to the host.

This is one occasion as we read in the Gospel. Why? Does Jesus not care if he would ever be invited again? It does not seem that since he does not mince his words.

Come along this Sunday and learn from Jesus – what matters most when we sit with Jesus at His table.

Come and hear God for yourselves, this coming Sunday at 10.00 am either in person or on zoom.

Blessings,
Chee

An updated document relating to the above has now been uploaded to the Policies section of our website. The ICB Council has been working with Life Raft International for many years in seeking to relocate people to various countries for resettlement. The uploaded document gives clear parameters of our relationship with Life Raft International.

Covid Care and How to Get to
ICB Morning Services
(NOTES for in-person congregation)
At our new Location
SCC Creative Space Coffee Shop
Student Christian Center
328/1 Phyathai Road
A very short walking distance from BTS Ratchatewi.
Click here for Google maps reference or follow the map near the top of this newsletter.
Please remember the COVID Code:
All are advised to follow social distancing to keep others safe. A temperature check is required. We have members who have been infected lately and we do not wish others to be infected. If you are not feeling well, please stay at home and join us on Zoom. For safety precautions, the ICB Council has advised against any form of fellowship events for the time being. Bottled water will be available.

If you plan to come in your own car:
It is best to enter Phayathai Road from the Patumwan intersection (at Discovery Center/MBK) and drive across Hua Chang (elephant head) Bridge, taking the left-most lane. Then, immediately over the bridge, turn left into the SCC/CCT compound just before Evergreen Place and Asia Hotel.
There are limited parking spaces (free) just inside the compound but if full, you can park in the CCT Tower Building at the back of this same compound (there maybe a small charge p/hr)

ICB Evening Service at
Bangkok Christian Guesthouse (BCGH)
has been suspended until further notice.

Fellowship is essential for the wellbeing of any true community – but it’s not so easy when we cannot all meet personally face-to-face, and have no social events.
At ICB, we wish to develop new ways to extend Christian fellowship among all of us during 2022. We invite you to help with your ideas for such fellowship activities.
