Sunday, 5th June 2022

is delivered in-person & on zoom by our minister,
Revd. Chee Keong Yong
Revd. Chee introduces his sermon theme this week:

Theme: ” Pentecost Sunday

Scripture Readings for this week:
Old Testament:   Psalm 104:24-35*
New Testament: Acts 2:1-21*,
 Romans 8:14-17*
Gospel of Christ: John 14:8-17; 25-27*
(*click for online Bible)

Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
The day of Pentecost has been celebrated in different manners across different churches. Traditional churches have given emphasis to the various symbols associated with the coming of the Spirit. For example, the colour “red” allows us to identify with the Holy Spirit as is seen as “tongues of flames” resting on the disciples. The multi-languages are emphasized as the church recognized the diversity of people that are drawn in as the disciples spoke various languages.

For the disciples, something has changed. After the death of Jesus, these were frightened men who were huddled together in a room away from the crowds. Being without Jesus was something they were not accustomed to. So imagine, the day of Pentecost when these men came out of hiding and were evidently emboldened to speak out without fear.

Pentecostals and charismatics know that this special day is not confined to one particular event in history. This is a recurring event in the lives of all those who follow Jesus. Indeed, it is this dismissal of fear from their natural self that propelled the church onto a new footing.

How do we want to remember this day of Pentecost? Would a yearly remembrance be enough to stir this church? Are we content to remain where we are and do no more? After all, “prim and proper” Christians like the orderly nature of the church – everyone in their own corner.

Is there anyone in this church that would like to give testimony this Sunday about what the Spirit did in your life to cause a renewal? Let me know in response to this email.

Hopefully, let us return to church service in person this Sunday. Wear something red to commemorate the event.

In-person Evening service continues on Sundays. Worship starts at 6.30pm.
at BCGH (Bangkok Christian Guesthouse)
Please scroll down below for details

Please pray
a) for those who have contracted Covid19, including those in our own congregation and their families.
b) for the refugee families and other displaced persons residing in Bangkok, for their safety and well-being as well as positive progress in securing permanent resettlement solutions to their plight.
c) for the people of Ukraine both in the country and refugees as well as those caught up in wars and conflicts in many other countries, including in neighbouring Myanmar.
d) for the people in Yemen, Afghanistan, Mozambique and the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia and Somalia) who needlessly lack both food and medical supplies and are close to starvation. We pray that the recently agreed truce in fighting in both The Yemen and Ethiopia will transform into  permanent endings of hostilities in those countries.
Sunday School will not meet for now.

ICB Church Council invites all members of the congregation to read and review the draft of a new document entitled

Here is the Link for downloading
This document contains a forward which explains the background and reasons for revising our understanding on how we can and should approach our mission to others.

We will let you know when we can organise a discussion about this document together.

Fellowship is essential for the wellbeing of any true community – but it’s not so easy when we cannot all meet personally face-to-face, and have no social events.
At ICB, we wish to develop new ways to extend Christian fellowship among all of us during 2022. We invite you to help with your ideas for such fellowship activities.
