Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
Do you believe in the Resurrection? This was the question that a certain group of people in today’s gospel wanted an answer to from Jesus. As always, they were wanting to humiliate Jesus with the question – not really wanting an answer. The fact of the matter is that this group of people known as the Sadducees does not believe in the Resurrection.
The premise of their position lies in the fact that the Resurrection is never mentioned in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible).
Here, they were concocting an unlikely scenario about a woman married to several brothers. And the question to Jesus was who among the brothers is married to the woman in the afterlife.
Jesus’ reply to them caught them by surprise for they remarked that Jesus answered well. They had not thought about it before but were impressed by Jesus’ reply. Who would like to know about Jesus’ reply?
Come join us this Sunday at 10.00 in worship and the study of God’s word. We will be having Holy Communion too.
Blessings,
Chee
