Pastor Chee introduces this week’s theme:
Why do you seek the living among the dead?
What do we look for in life? It is a simple question but the reply may be varied. The reply is dependent on a host of factors too. Some are guarded in how to respond to the question. Others may offer a ridiculous reply thinking it is a joke question.
So the question from the angels to the early witnesses of the resurrection is rather puzzling. Were the witnesses looking for the living, first of all? None of them were prepared for the events of the first Easter morning. Their hearts were weighed down with grief and sorrow. They certainly were not looking for the living among the dead.
So what do we look for this Easter? What do we tell our younger people as we prepare them for this Easter service? Some are waiting anxiously for the Easter egg hunt. It is a time of fun and eating sugar-laden chocolate eggs. I was converted to Christianity in my late teens. So I have never in all my life participated in an egg hunt. I wonder what it is like to look for hidden eggs.
I guess that there are more things in life to look for – happiness, carefree life, wealth, etc.
I wonder if our pursuit of any other than the risen Christ is linked to the question from the angels.
Come this Sunday and join us in worshipping the Risen Christ.
If you are wanting to attend a Good Friday service, there is one available at 2.00 pm at Christ Church Bangkok on Soi Convent (corner with Sathorn Road).
