ICB Morning Worship Service
On-line with “Zoom”
Sunday, 17 January 2021

Owing to the closure of many public and institutional facilities as part of the COVID19 prevention measures in Bangkok, there will be no in-person Morning nor Evening Worship Services during the month of January or until further notice, according to government restrictions.
Everyone, anywhere, is most welcome to join our live, on-line service on “Zoom” each Sunday from 10 to 11 am, followed by break-out chats together for 30 minutes following the end of the service itself.

Although the service will begin at 10:00 am, please log in around 10 minutes or at least 5 minutes beforehand to allow for any connection issues and to be ready for the start. Our worship leaders will try to give you specific directions to help you if you need them but, first,
please see below
a) Instructions and password to Log-in to Zoom from your browser (or Zoom app, if you have this) and

Our minister-designate, Rev. Chee Keong Yong will again join us live for this service from New Zealand!   Please join us in welcoming his real-time presence with us all!

Revd. Chee’s theme for this week is:
” Come & See “
and his Scripture Reading is:
John 1:43-51
“Come & See” were the words that Philip said to Nathanael. On the surface, it looks like Philip was urging Nathanael to give Jesus a try. Pure and simple. However, the event was more than just giving Jesus a try. Nathanael was not only impressed by what he sees, he was led to declare that Jesus is truly “the Son of God and the King of Israel“.

Sermon Notes:

When was the last time, you brought someone to Jesus with the words, “Come and see”? It is not about bringing others to the worship service or an event that the church put on. It is about coming to see and experience Jesus.

What do you mean? Last Christmas, I saw numerous churches highlighting their Christmas programs and events but never heard of any church and/or Christian urging others to “come and see” Jesus. Just imagine Nathanael being invited to watch a Christmas play about the birth of Jesus. Would you think that he will be impressed?

The world awaits to see Jesus not our programs and events about Jesus. It wants to see Jesus in you and me in real-life action – feeding the poor, visiting the prisoners, healing the sick, breaking the bondages of the oppressed.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote in Letters and Papers from Prison – “The Church is the Church only when it exists for others…not dominating, but helping and serving. It must tell men of every calling what it means to live for Christ, to exist for others.”

List some of the things that you as an individual, with your spouse, with your mates and work colleagues, with the church will do this year to invite others to “Come & See”.

Protocols to observe during the Service

1. We welcome you to participate in Church-by-Zoom at the International Church of Bangkok. Our goal is to provide a shared worship experience in real-time to help us to maintain our relationships with one another as we worship God.

2. None of us leaders are Zoom-masters, so some things might not go as planned. We ask for your patience as we try something new, and we pray that our shared worship will bring glory to God and draw us nearer to him.

3. Parts of this Church-by-Zoom event will be recorded, and available later for those not able to join us live. Please email Revd. Chee ([email protected] ) for the link.

4. The worship leaders will lead the readings, prayers and songs, and you are invited to read, pray and sing along at home, but please keep your microphones turned OFF.

5. We invite you, as worshippers, to keep your videos ON during the service so we can see one another as we do when we meet in person. However, please ensure that your video picture is appropriate for a worship experience. You may turn off your video at any time if you do not wish to be seen by others. (click the symbol on your screen)

6. The “Chat” feature (on Zoom) will be enabled before and after the service, and during the Passing of the Peace*. We ask that your chat messages be appropriate to Christian fellowship and the worship of God. *The worship leader will indicate when you can send chat messages during the service.
